Meet the Maker

Hi there! My name is Kristy, maker and owner of Aeroma Candle Co. I’m so glad you're here. In case you were curious about how Aeroma came to be, here's a little bit about me:

I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

At a very young age, I was introduced to aviation.

I’m a 3rd generation pilot after my grandfather and father.

I began my flying journey in 2016 after completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Guelph.

In 2016, I trained for my private pilot's license in St.Lazare, Quebec.

I continued my commercial training in Waterloo, Ontario.

In 2020, I trained for my multi-engine and IFR (instrument flying) ratings in Cornwall, Ontario.

Throughout my aviation journey, I have realized my favourite thing about flying is sharing it with the people I love.

Another one of my favourite things about this journey is all of the incredible people and amazing women I have met in the industry.

After completing training, I flew a private business jet called an Embraer Phenom 300 out of Toronto Pearson International Airport for a small charter company.

(An exciting day showing off my new birdie to my grandfather and mom!)

In November 2022, as my career was taking off, I began experiencing health issues and lost my aviation medical.

After receiving the news, I decided to go travelling on my dream trip to Asia.

(My dad and brother travelled with me and we met up with my Aunt, Uncle and little cousins who now live in Thailand)

Two months into my trip, I was in a motor vehicle accident. Returning home, unable to fly, and taking time to recover, I decided to start making candles from the comfort of my home.

Here I am now, full circle, bringing my love for business, travel, aviation and design into the world of candle making!

And of course, the light of my life... let me introduce you to my CEO (Canine Executive Officer) and best co-pilot a girl could ask for, Kylie. We have been on many great adventures together.

(I think there's a better way to check tire pressure Ky)

Finally, a note about sustainability:

Being a travel lover, our earth is important to me, and I aim to create beautiful products that make a minimal impact on the environment. To read more about my sustainability efforts, click here: https://aeromacandleco.ca/pages/sustainability
